On July 4, 2026, America will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence—an observance often called America250 and coordinated nationally by the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission and its America250 initiative.

While the national programs focus on history, civics, and service, Flight Tower is focused on the other half of independence: End‑Dependence at the household level—food, energy, water, and shelter.

America's 250th anniversary

The Architects of Our Sovereignty

For 250 years, Americans have worn a uniform and stood a post—from the first shots of the Revolution to the dawn of Space Force. This honor guard across history represents every era, every branch, and every family that has carried the weight of our sovereignty. Below, you’ll find a growing gallery of veterans’ stories, followed by the one that shaped my own life and work: the Marine who came home from Iwo Jima, picked up a hammer, and started building American homes—my father, Samuel Eugene Burgess.

We invite you to explore these stories of service and sacrifice. They represent the 'Map' of our national character and the 'Miles' of personal resilience. As we countdown to America 250, we ensure their legacy remains the cornerstone of our mission.
